Zanzibar & Tanzania Migration Calendar

Plan your trip around the Great Migration and other wildlife movements โ€” the best times to visit for wildlife viewing.

Understanding the Great Migration

Tanzania's Great Migration is one of nature's most spectacular events. While often associated with the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, Zanzibar offers unique wildlife experiences year-round.

The Great Migration involves over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and Thomson's gazelle moving in a circular pattern through the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The movement is driven by rainfall and grass growth, creating a dynamic calendar of wildlife viewing opportunities.
